All Fiat enthusiasts can tell you about the Fiat Topolino. How many know about the place they were made? I was on holiday, staying at hostels in Dublin, when I decided to visit that hallowed ground. Lingotto is a district of Turin in Italy that named the Lingotto building in Via Nizza, which once was a huge automobile factory. The factory was built between 1916 and 1923, the design by young architect Matte Trucco was unusual in that it had five floors, with raw materials going in at the ground floor, and cars built on a line that went up through the building.

The finished cars emerged at rooftop level, where there was a rooftop test track. It was the largest car factory in the world at that time. For its time, the Lingotto building was an architectural marvel, impressing the design world and society. Le Corbusier called it “one of the most impressive sights in industry”, and “a guideline for town planning”. 80 different models of car were produced there in its lifetime, including the Topolinoin 1936.

The factory became outdated in the 1970s and the decision was made to finally close it in 1982. The closure of the plant led to much public debate about its future, and how to recover from industrial decline in general. An architectural competition was held, which was eventually awarded to Renzo Piano who envisioned an exciting public space for the city. The old factory was rebuilt into a modern complex, with a convention centre, a hotel and a shopping centre. The eastern part of the building is the headquarters of the Automotive Engineering faculty of the Polytechnic University of Turin. The work was completed in 1989. The track was retained, however, and can still be visited today on the top floor of the building. It is a Mecca for Fiat lovers. If you haven’t visited, it’s an interesting experience.

Forget Ferrari. Lamborghinis are for losers. If you want to drive an Italian car with real history and style, then it has to be a Fiat. After all, these guys were making cars when Mr Ferrari and Mr Lamborghini were still in short trousers and could still teach their fancier and much more expensive neighbours a few tricks.

Some would argue that comparing a Ferrari to a Fiat is like comparing top of the range HR management software with a notebook and pencil; but that doesn’t take into account Fiat’s long and illustrious history, their role as one of the great innovators in the automotive industry and, of course, their success in rally driving competitions. While Ferrari blow millions of dollars every year investing in a Formula One car that none of their fans can ever dream of driving, Fiat’s sporting success comes in the kind of cars that anyone can pick up from their local garage – even if they have been improved quite significantly before they make their way to the starting line!

The Fiat team made the best possible start to their rally career in 2006 when they took the title; not bad for a bunch of débutantes! In fact, it was even more impressive as the driving duo of Paolo Andreucci and Anna Andreussi won an astonishing seven of that year’s 11 races. Fiat are even doing their bit to encourage rally drivers of the future by holding the annual Fiat Panda Rally Cup. Young sportsmen, and women, can get their hands on an extremely souped-up version of the classic family car and tear around a specially-designed course for the honour of being named the best new driver.

Formula One may have all the celebrities and millionaires, but everyone knows that rally fans are the real car fans; so it makes sense that a real car company like Fiat would ignore Formula One in favour of getting their wheels dirty on the rally track.

When it comes to getting hold of fiat car parts and spares, there are a number of options available to the consumer; some of these involve hassle – like driving around garages all over the country in what seems like a wild goose chase of endless never-ending frustration – and some don’t, which are the ones that we much prefer and you must too! One of the best we know of, however, has to be the infamous breakeryard.com

The premier supplier of fiat parts, they aim to get them to you as cheaply as possible, in the most efficient time possible too. Their huge comprehensive web-site has all the info on it, so click on the link above and head on over, or alternatively continue reading for more info.

They even have a next day delivery service which guarantees part delivery for all those pesky annoying jobs which are on a super tight deadline…

Discounts are also the name of the game for this company. As the official web-site for all the breakers yards out there – as well as all the auto recycling outlets, too – you can be sure that you’ll be getting the absolute best price possible. If you don’t believe us, have a scan around at the competition and see for yourself.

The site are also unique because they’re not all about the selling. OK, actually that’s a bit of a lie – they’re a company, so of course they are all about the selling! But what we mean is this: they offer independent advice to you, the customer too, and also have a fiat spares hotline which makes it easy for you to quiz them about whatever it is that you want.

If you don’t live in the UK, and are now feeling a bit down about the prospect of having wasted your time reading this here article, don’t panic! Using stansted transfers and other international flight paths, the firm ship used fiat parts to literally anywhere in the entire world. They even have a next day delivery service which guarantees part delivery for all those pesky annoying jobs which are on a super tight deadline and are causing you all kinds of stress.

Last but not least, you needn’t be concerned if you need a different car part. We here at the fiat blog are not ashamed to say that this is sometimes the case, and it’s all part of the motor industry these days, so no need to feel like too much of a traitor. And that isn’t going to be an issue for this company – an integral part of their job is sourcing other car parts too.

Fiat Freemont has been on the European market for quite some time now, so today, after spending a whole hour on a large format printing website, we’ve decided to give it a quick look. This completely new car is actually a people carrier with plenty of space and rather conservative design, just like the other members of the Fiat family, we of course exclude Ferrari. Anyway, this Fiat comes in two different trim levels, a basic one and the so-called Urban, which offers plenty of toys and gadgets. However even in the basic trim level, the crossover comes with seven seats, climate control with three separate zones, board computer, audio system with CD and MP3 and small touchscreen, tyre pressure monitoring system, alloy wheels and what not. The Urban trim level adds Bluetooth hands free calling, parking assistant, leather steering wheel and gear knob, adjustable driver’s seat, electric mirrors and more. Right now, the Fiat Freemont is available with a 2litre diesel engine which comes with either 140bhp or 170bhp and 350Nm of torque. The acceleration from 0 to 60 mph comes in less than 10.2 seconds, which is okay for such a car. You can also upgrade to a V6 petrol or diesel engine which are also available with permanent four wheel drive and an automatic gearbox. An interesting fact is that the Fiat Freemont is actually a Dodge Journey, a car made for the US customer. Well this explains the big V6 engines. Nevertheless, the new Fiat certainly adds a certain flavor the company’s product range, and even though it is still not available in the UK, soon, it will be.

A report by the BBC published in February this year should remind every Fiat enthusiast of how diverse the company actually is. Due to bring in the Chrysler brand across Europe this year, it’s easy to forget that Fiat also own Lancia and Alfa Romeo.

The move to bring in European versions of the Chrysler leads many pundits to speculate as to what Fiat’s intentions are. However anyone familiar with the Dodge Journey will be pleased to note that a European version is due to be on the market by the end of the summer. It’s a slightly modified version with stiffer suspension a redesigned interior showing that it isn’t just a Dodge with an Italian label on it, though some critics may disagree.

A worldwide roamig sim card has been alleged to providing the seed of the idea that has led Fiat to diversify in this manner. Like the mobile phone industry, Fiat wished to expand and adapt its cars to each nation it sells them to, rather then applying a ‘one size fits all'strategy to the world. It could prove to be a smart move though there has already been a backlash in rebranding a Chrysler 300 as a Lancia Thema. Deciding to merge the Chrysler and Lancia brand into one brand in Europe has already met with hostility in some quarters as Lancia users have been historically proud of their models.

Will Fiat’s gambit pay off? Well as one of the largest car companies in the world, this reviewer humbly submits that Fiat will remain as one of the leading lights of the industry.

Automobile manufacturer Fiat left USA more than 25 years ago with a very bad reputation. Times were different then and people had different expectations from their automobiles. Today, conditions are ripe for reentry of Fiat in the American automobile market. If there is one thing that irritates the American car driver, it is the high price of fuel in the country. This is a sad fact of life where people were very proud about the fact that price of fuel was cheaper than the price of bottled water.

Conditions have become so desperate that people in the United Kingdom are opting for red diesel Milton Keynes instead of standard fuel. Of course, this is prohibited and is only going to cause long term damage to the engine and one’s reputation as a driver.

Instead, it makes sense to check out vehicles like the Fiat 500. This may not be the best vehicle in the world but it certainly ranks very high in terms of fuel efficiency. A single gallon of fuel will run for more than 35 miles. This is far higher than what so called quality car manufacturers in the world claim to offer.

The manufacturer is hoping that this fuel efficiency rating which is better than all other vehicles in the market will help improve overall brand name and goodwill of Fiat in the American market. If that happens, it will be the beginning of a tripartite fight between Japanese, American and European car manufacturers for supremacy in the American market.

So recently I passed by a retail display at a auto dealer for the Fiat Brava and found a few things out which I shall share with you below.

The Fiat Brava is a family car that is geared toward the compact section of the car market. It was constructed by the iconic Italian carmaker between 1995 to 2001. It is an attractive hatchback that sports five-doors and is roomy and wonderful for families. A popular choice for younger drivers, it was elected Car of the Year in Europe in 1996.

Surprisingly affordable for a quality, luxury-class car, the Brava has great flair, with a sleek shape and lines. It also boasts a powerful engine, and handles exceptionally well. Unfortunately, however, it has a low-speed ride that is below expectations.

The Fiat Brava is well-appointed with standard power locks and windows, driver air bag, and power steering (front wheel). It comes with a powerful engine; options include 80 hp, 103 hp, 113 hp, and 147 hp. Cars are also available in turbo diesel engines, too, so there is not only performance, but fuel efficiency.

Safety features aren’t as impressive as one would expect from such a well-designed car. Passenger airbags are options. There are anti-theft devices on-board, but the locking system is comparatively flimsy.

The car is quite comfortable and practical, with a spacious interior that easily seats five and roomy trunk storage that far outclasses comparable cars. Seats are comfortable, and there is excellent sound proofing. There is certainly not much more that can be wanted from this car. The Brava is also an excellent value in the used car market.

While searching online for the best place to carry out large format printing, I stumbled on a link that took me into the world of Fiat brands. What I came across is worth sharing with Fiat enthusiasts. Fiat history began over 100 years ago at the dawn of Italian industrialization in which the company has always played a leading role. FIAT is an acronym for Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino created in 1899. The brand has survived since then and has one several accolades both home and abroad. In the United States of America, Fiat won an award for it Powertrain technologies. Its TwinAir technology also won an award early this year. The brand has continued to set the pace technologically and even environmentally.

In March 2011, it was reported that Fiat is the brand with the lowest CO2 emissions in Europe which makes it compliant with the green campaign. At the 81st Geneva International Motor Show, Fiat featured in world previews and a range of well-established models. A highlight of the show was the brand new Freemont. Freemont is the first car to come out of Fiat’s partnership with Chrysler. In its world preview, it was described as the true star of the exhibition area. The car which goes on sale next June was described to evoke a sense of freedom, adventure and the possibility of facing any situation that arises in daily life. Fiat brand has continued to record more success stories which is evident in the world wide credit directed to it.

Fiat Bravo is a family hatchback rivalling with strong players like Ford Focus, Vauxhall Astra and VW Golf. The all Italian car has, as expected, a very beautiful and ergonomic design. From the outside the automobile looks very dynamic and aggressive. The interior is relatively spacious. The dashboard has a stream lines and is covered with really nice rubber material which doesn’t show fingerprints and looks very hard wearing. The instruments glow in pleasant orange light and are very clear to read during the day and at night as well. The steering wheel has a classic three spoke design and integrated buttons for controlling the audio system and the on-board computer. The seats are very comfortable, especially if you order the leather upholstery. Overall, the cabin is a very pleasant place to be. The Fiat Bravo can be order with either petrol or a diesel engine. There are three petrol engines to choose from, all 1.4 litre. The entry level one offers 90bhp.The top of range has a turbocharger and produces 150bhp and 230Nm of torque. There is also a diesel TD Multijet motor available with either 120bhp or 150bhp. You can also choose from automatic or manual gearbox. Nevertheless, our advice is to pick up the manual, as it offers better fuel consumption and better acceleration. The new Bravo has been awarded 5 stars from the EURO NCAP and you can choose from different car leasing special offers. This makes the beautiful Fiat a really good choice for families on the budged, who don’t want to compromise on the safety as well.

We are all familiar with the funky little Fiat 500. The car is a huge hit and there is no doubt about that. It even managed to frighten the legendary MINI. Anyways, tuning studios have been working hard on the 500 in order to make it even more unique and special. The latest additions is the Fiat 500 from Zagato. Nevertheless this time the little fiat has received a little bit more of a tweak. Instead of putting some big, bad ass spoilers and installing bigger wheels, the Italians have decided to cut the roof. Well, not literally, but they have made it more coupe like. The rear of the car sits lower and the roof-line is different. Its more like a small, two door Ferrari this one. The car is available with sand yellow paint combined with black wheels and side mirrors. The interior is also different. Even though the instruments’ panel, the steering wheel and the gear-lever are the same they are all covered with premium leather, of course the colour combinations is just like the exterior. Nevertheless there are some new sports seats installed, which give great support and comfort. In the interior there are several storage unit and small boxes when you can hold your stuff. There is a special sunglasses box covered with soft material. Even though the roof is lower, the car still has the standard 4 seats. Nevertheless if you are a tall guy forget about sitting at the back, you will be miserable for sure.
