Italian super car!

Forget Ferrari. Lamborghinis are for losers. If you want to drive an Italian car with real history and style, then it has to be a Fiat. After all, these guys were making cars when Mr Ferrari and Mr Lamborghini were still in short trousers and could still teach their fancier and much more expensive neighbours a few tricks.

Some would argue that comparing a Ferrari to a Fiat is like comparing top of the range HR management software with a notebook and pencil; but that doesn’t take into account Fiat’s long and illustrious history, their role as one of the great innovators in the automotive industry and, of course, their success in rally driving competitions. While Ferrari blow millions of dollars every year investing in a Formula One car that none of their fans can ever dream of driving, Fiat’s sporting success comes in the kind of cars that anyone can pick up from their local garage – even if they have been improved quite significantly before they make their way to the starting line!

The Fiat team made the best possible start to their rally career in 2006 when they took the title; not bad for a bunch of débutantes! In fact, it was even more impressive as the driving duo of Paolo Andreucci and Anna Andreussi won an astonishing seven of that year’s 11 races. Fiat are even doing their bit to encourage rally drivers of the future by holding the annual Fiat Panda Rally Cup. Young sportsmen, and women, can get their hands on an extremely souped-up version of the classic family car and tear around a specially-designed course for the honour of being named the best new driver.

Formula One may have all the celebrities and millionaires, but everyone knows that rally fans are the real car fans; so it makes sense that a real car company like Fiat would ignore Formula One in favour of getting their wheels dirty on the rally track.
